Default X5 vs. moded Eclipse

Well guys, my commuter/family car is a Black X5 3.0 with the step-tronic transmission, yesterday I was picking up a present for my Mom for her birthday and after leaving the Mor furniture warehouse I was in the Step-tronic mode just given it a little gas. I pull behind a moded eclipse, well hopefully moded, he had an injen sticker on the back so I assume he at least had intake. I guess he heard me in the higher RPMs because he had been driven slow but when the light turned he gased it, I wasn't expecting to race or keep up with him, but I held my own behind him all the way to 100, didn't gain or lose an inch it seemed. Obviously there wasn't really driver skill involved on my part I just had it floored, it was fun, first ever encounter in the X5. (note this was done during the day time, although no one was around, some random nicely paved back road.) I was thinking what would have happened in the S

Remember I have the 3.0 225 hp auto tranny, it isn't that fast, if he had a five spd, he probably shouldn't have had any difficulty keeping up.

About six months ago I got into a stoplight war with some old man driving a cadillac seville STS(32v northstar V8) while driving an X5 4.4i. I totally smoked his ass, its got to be the funniest driving experience i've ever had.

I saw an X5 today, but it said "Dinan" and had 4 muffler pipes instead of two.

What does that mean?

Dinan is an aftermarket tuner for BMW like Brabus for Mercedes and Gemballa for porsche, it was probably slightly moded, suspension, exhaust possibly, etc. The 4 pipes simply mean it was a 4.4 or the 4.6is, the 3.0 has two.

the 4.4 is the same V-8 that's in the current e39 540i. 292 HP and 324 lbs torque. If it's anything like my dad's 540i, i would assume it moves real well.
