Default $10K to fix engine

my cousin's 2000 S2k just broke down due to the spark plug getting loose and it fell into the block breaking it...dealer estimate that it would take $10K to fix it but since everything is stock and its a manufacture defect they 're gonna replace the engine for free...is there any other recall should i be worry about?

Did he not get the spark plug recall notice back then? Or was this with the new plugs?
Since this thread doesn't involve any actually wrench turning, moving to "S2000 Talk".

The same thing happened to an Aussie owner with the handle Honda9krpm, but he was using aftermarket plugs and that was the source of the failure so he was up shit creek.

Are you asking if there is anything else that they should fix while theyre rebulding? If so then check the TSB list in the library. One that comes to mind is the oil jet bolts, you'll find the details in there.

would a rebuild with aftermarket parts cost as much? just wondering. i would think for less than 10grand you can build a better engine.

What is a whole (used) engine worth to import or buy? It may be cheaper changing the whole engine rather than trying to fix it.

Yes I do, whats the problem?

if you are asking why I am talking about insurace companies about a blow engine. Pretty much an extedn warranty is insurance on your car. When somehitng goes worng they pay for it. Also most of the big Insurance companies in US own most of the extende warranty services. When you buy extended warranty it s not always from the manufacturer. So the service departments try to overcharge on everything to get more money to show more profit. They pretty much screw the extended warranty companies. Same thing as body shops and insurace companies. When you get an estiamte of $3500 on a bend fender, and your insurace pays for it, later on they take that money from you as premiums. Extended warratys used to be much cheaper in the past but on the last years service departments started charging them so much even for the smallest repair, their selling price is increased a lot.
How do I know all this or what do I back it up with? I have been in car businnes for a long time.
I dealt with warranty companies, sold their products, sold cars and been in contact with the service departments that I used to work with. When you get charged 65 dollars and hour at the service department, the actual mechanic is getting less than half of that . The rest is pure profit.
