If I can daily drive a z06 in the rain and cold no problem, you clowns should be able to handle a car which is essentially a z06 with no power =)

Also, FYI - *all* tires suck when its cold out.

This is not some special property of S02s.

And winter tires that don't lose grip much when it gets cold typically never had any grip in the first place.

=)

Jmott, the Z06 has traction control, which can make up for some mistakes.

I've driven with nearly bald S02's in the rain, and in the snow. Not a good idea, but hey whatever.

I know a guy who made it through a Denver winter with the stock S02's on his S2000 which is his daily driver.

Tires ne wreck.

Tires + Bad driving (and / or lack of driving skill) = wreck.

Greg's crash was due to ice on the LSD at an unsuspecting bend in in the road. Aside from it being less than 40 degrees, he was fine the many times he had taken the car out in that weather.

The context that this picture is used in, is quite misleading. I'd just get Greg to chime in here, but due to his banned status, he would not be abel to reply. Greg is a staunch supporter in NOT driving the S02's when it's too cold, but he doesn't go and blame this crash on that...many times he's told me that it was a patch of ice that got him.

BTW, Greg was a fan of NOT driving the S2000 in any bad weather....not just cold. This had little to do with tires...it had more to do with the S2000 being used a play toy only.

If you want more info on this crash, go check out the boards at www.s2kca.com and talk to Mr. Stevens yourself (rather than taking my word or Barry's picture for evidence).

Good to know.
Thanks very much for the post. I didn't know or had forgotten those details.

Nevertheless, why drive in cold temperatures with tires designed for a different purpose?
