0-60 in 5.4 sec
I know the Honda site specs indicate that the S can go from 0-60 in 5.4. Some other sites tested at 6.1(???). I am wondering if anyone with a stock S (no mods) has ever tried to go faster. I was driving pretty hard the last 2 days and it made me wonder has anyone gotton close to 5 or under 5. I think I went from 25 to just under 60 in 2.5-3 sec going uphill this afternoon. When that Vtec kicked in OMG. It was pretty awesom.
I doubt many normal people actually can measure 0-60 reliably. To tell you the truth, I doubt most magazines even measure it that reliably.
To me, the 1/4mi times tell a lot more about the car, especially if you have the full breakdown of the sector times.

Agreed. The accuracy is probably there, due to devices like you mentioned, but the consistency is all over the place, mainly due to launching.
Yet another argument for why the 1/4mi is better. 60' times tell a lot!

0 to 60, 1/4 mile, 1/8 of a mile...who cares..
The purpose of pure sports cars is the elapsed time it takes from point A to point B on a mountain road or on a racetrack..and the satisfaction you get in doing so..

Certainly, there are characteristics of the S2000 that make it a "not so ideal" candidate for drag racing, but to say "who cares" is pretty narrow minded. Hell, people have been drag racing "SOAP BOXES" for decades. Since when was a soap box meant for drag racing?
Every magazine you read today that tests enthusiasts automobile (even some trucks) will test for and print such times. Why? Because people CARE! How often have you seen them print times for Auto-X, road courses and "canyon carving" along with all the other specs?
The purpose of a "pure sports" car is purely for the enjoyment of its owner, however that owner interprets enjoyment.

Lots of owners of S2000s do. I've never been one to jump on the "This is not a drag car" bandwagon. At least I try not to anyway (except when it comes to street racing). Drag racing has been around since the advent of the automobile. What you do with yours is your business as is what you perceive Honda to have built this car for.
