i don't think you need to crack open the roll hoops or take out the bottom trim. I think there is a way to get the rain rail loose without going through all of that.

also, the roll hoops don't go back together right when you crack them open.

Just cracked my window last night. Going to try to ask for a goodwill warrenty from the local dealership. If that won't work then I'll have to try this. How much is the plastic window piece?

Nice Thanks for posting up the pics. I'm adding this to my How-to list in my signature.

BTW, The plastic pin that you're removing in the fourth picture with the screwdriver can be removed by pressing the center section in. That loosens the inside part and lets you pull it out easily. I can't tell if you did that and are just pulling it out with the screwdriver the rest of the way or if you're trying to pry it out with the screwdriver to begin with.

The roll hoops are not designed to have the plastic taken apart. They are meant to be unbolted from the body of the car. Seperating the plastic will require you to glue them back together. Many have tried to glue them unsuccesfully.

Me being one of them. Don't do it. Don't seperate the roll hoops. They won't go back together. I have zip ties holding mine together.

I did press the center section in, and I'm just pulling it out with a screwdriver

I know that they are not supposed to be taken apart but the guys at the shop where I had my seatbelts replaced just ripped it apart (said that this was the first S they'd worked on) But because they were already apart when I decided to replace the window, I did not have to remove the glovebox.
