thanks guys can u guys approximate the what range is considered low mileage for 00-01 and what is considered high mileage?

seems like now i'd pay a lil more like 16ish for a 02-03 , do u guys think its a better move?

what about a 00 with a rebuilt engine? will that be better or worse? the clutch buzz , weak diff and plastic window seems a bit bad. i dont know since i dont own one yet but would like to hear more opinions to decide on my first s2k
I own an 01'

Per the window comments, take care of your plastic window with some cleaners and conditioners now and again so it will never break.

The diff may be weaker but mine has served me fine for 27k miles, and that was a very rough 27k on the diff.

I have nevr expierenced clutch buzz, but I do believe it was a recall so it should have been fixed.

Aside from being a bit larger, the plastic window is a big PITA. I'm confident that if a majority of the above posters had a glass window, they'd be saying sayonara to plastic and never look back.

I do agree with that but its not that big of a deal to me to ride with a CLEAN plastic window.

Yeah, I agree with you here.

I guess it would be alright depending on where you live and how often you drive your car. I would think that if the car is a DD in a colder climate, the plastic window wouldn't hold up as well as glass.

IDK. I would think that if owners had the option of not having to ever worry about their window cracking or discoloring, they would go that route.

02/03 for 2-3K more? You can get a new glass top for 500 bucks, and oil jets for 50 dollars. There I just saved you 2500 dollars. Go buy some suspension and wheels with the leftover money

I like my plastic window and carpet console!
I have an 01 and have never had to "fold my back window" whatever that was supposed to mean.

Very good point!! Not to dispute or anything, just to point it out to the gentleman looking for the car, If you do purchase an S with the plastic window you can upgrade it to glass. Or even convert the whole top from soft to hard.

I appreciate the plastic window. Yes it needs taking care of, but I like the size. I drive my S in crappy weather (rain, snow), and I need all the visibility I can get.

I'd probably go with the 02 w/ 60k miles, however I would also take color of each into consideration.
