Default 01 GPW/ Red Good Deal?

A local 'upscale' used car dealer has a 01, GPW with red interior (not the all red, did they make that in 01?). Back to the point, it's got 37k and they offered 25k right off the bat without a word from me. The car's go new rubber and no unexpected flaws from a 2 year old car. I know it's been there for a while so I'm thinking I might go back in a two or three weeks and make an offer if it's still there. What's a fair target? I'm also going to keep looking private party style... seattle anyone?

Thanks!

$25k seems pretty steep to me. I've seen '02's with 4k go for that. I'd be shooting toward $22.5k or so, maybe even less considering the mileage.

I got my 00 white/red with 12k miles for 23,500, so you should get them to drop the price

The all red interior did not appear until '02, by the way.

Its to bad people try to get these cars for so cheap. If people would just pay the higher price, I would think the car would hold its value better. Am I wrong?

You're not wrong, but do you really think that someone else is going to pay more than they have to for their car just so yours will hold its value? It's all about supply and demand. There's no way to fight it.

They probably paid between 19000 and 20000 for the car. They fair private party price for that care is around 23000 if it is in exceptional condition. check www.kbb.com for values and such. the numbers do change with atea as well.

my policy is that i would be willing to pay the 'private party' price if i really want the car, but would shoot for a little less.

if the car has even the slightest scratch to, value it as 'good'

you should also ask for proof that the title is clear. if it is not, then you should pay way less than that.

Your right, I know just one person is not going to change a thing. It should have been higher priced since the begining. No way to reverse it now.
