Default 01' Rear Window Flappage

Today my father drove the S to work, it is his car so i am not allowed to complain. He came home and informed me of an issue he has with his car. At speed (60) the rear window flaps in the wind, excessively. We looked at the rear of the car when he got home and there is a lip exposed to the air when the top is up that wind could get under and cause it to smack against itself. This only happens with the top up. Is this normal? Is there a fix? We have got the hardtop, but SPRING is here, (controled excitement) and the hardtop is in makeshift storage, any other solutions, i'm thinking of taking a trip to home depot to solve it, and if anyone else needs a rack for there's we can share diagrams, cause the OEM rack it hella expensive.. Two topic thread, sorry, all help appriciated, thanks in advance

Mine does this on occasion, but only in cold weather, and only if the wind is blowing from a specific direction, and only on the Interstate, and only the passenger side flaps.

First winter, when it did it more often, I put two tiny NIB magnets, one outside, one inside, and it got it under control. This winter, it's ony done it twice, and only for a few minutes - not worth breaking out the magnets again.

I never had that problem with my '01 S2000 that I remember. I suspect that it's a problem with your car and you'll want to get it fixed before it causes additional damage to the top.

As for the hardtop storage, I would be interested in building a storage caddy, too. There was a thread a month or so ago on the same topic, but I can't remember the name of it. As I remember it was decided that it's possible to make a caddy/dolly out of either wood or PVC pipe. If you develop a good design let me know. There's still a couple more weeks of potential snow over here, though, so I won't be starting mine until April at the earliest.

ARGH! I have the same problem and it is VERY annoying. Anybody know a fix or what the dealer did? I was just thinking of using velcro tape or something.

I have a 2001 model and do not have this problem. I have had the car out in the cold of winter and the heat of summer and the window does not flap at all. In fact, the top is fantastic, when it's up, which isn't much during the summer.

Check with Honda and get it fixed, under warranty. It shouldn't flap like that!

If its flapping, its probably because its 'stretched'. Dealers typically take a towel thats been in boiling water, and lay it across the plastic to 'tighten' it up. This is how they also remove wrinkles. This may help your problem.
