03-04 Cobras?
i was just wondering if anyone in here has both an s2000 and an 03-04 cobra? i have had an 03 cobra for over a year now, and recently bought an s2000 for a daily driver. i have a heavily modded cobra with lots of power and it's just to much to drive around every day. i traded in my pevious s2000 and 02 suzuka blue for this cobra. i liked the car so much i decided to buy another one. god, after being used to a straight line monster for so long it is nice to buzz around town in this badass go kart. all the stupid shits on the mustang website knocking me for buying the s2k, how can you drive it with no low end torque blah blah. stupid asses need to realize that it wasn't designed for and is as much of an awesome car in a totally different way. apples to oranges. anyways sorry for the long post, but i was just curious if anyone out there had this wierd car combo or something similar? which one do you find yourself driving more the torque monster or the bad ass s2k? thanks to all who respond.
Well I sold my 99 cobra with a procharger on it for my 04 S2k. Like you said it is like comparing apples and oranges two completly different types of fast. I loved the cobra's raw straight line power but I really love the all around performance of the S2K. I understand the mustang guys giving you crap I got it myself for a very long time after selling my Cobra but after giving these die hard mustang guys a ride around some twisties I have changed a couple of their minds. Anways congrats on having both I sure wish that I could do that but being a starving college student it just was not in the books for me.
Interesting comparison had the same thing when I switched from a heavy 300zxTT with about 450HP to my s2k
I read a mustang board once about the s2k and they have no respect for the car. They think it does low 15s or high 14s stock for some reason lol even though we hit low 14s and high 13s stock. Bascially all you gotta say is at the end of the day your driving a s2000 while they are driving a car which is driven by every mom, grandma, pretty much everyone in America. My bro drives a mustang and hes a cool guy its just that alot of mustang owners hate imports also for some reason.

yeah i know those guys have no respect for these cars at all. i am a car/motorcycle lover. if it's a bad ass car/bike then it's bad period. nuff said. i also have an 04 r1. i hate those stupid ass harley guys whos say that they are pussy bikes. oh yeah? 162rwhp and a dry weight of 370 lbs. yeah that's really pussy and it's aslo boring to stand it up going 100mph on the freeway. my 04 cobra is a 10sec ride has about 700hp and is an unbelievable machine. it's by far my favorite car i have ever owned but, it's really draining and a lot of effort to drive. s2000 has the best gearbox in the world IMO, and still has plenty enough power to get out of it's own way, not to mention the unbeleivble handling. anyhow, i am new to this site, and i have to say the site has a very community feel to it and i think i am gonna enjoy. my mustang site is just a pissing contest on who has the most horsepower. thanks for the replies
I'm a current cobra owner (modded 95) and 02 s2000 (exhaust, intake, volks). Very different creatures indeed. I also get some grief from some mustang and vette owners but I love having the option everyday on which car I feel I'm in the mood for driving.

I had a 99GT before my S and it did take a little while to get used to low torque, but the S is such a better car overall that I didn't regret it for one minute. I can still see a Mustang in my future, but only as another car, not as a replacement.
About 13 months ago when i was car shopping, i was looking for a used mustang GT(couldnt afford a cobra, i was 19 at the time and paying cash). I drive a few, but ended up finding an INCREDIBLE deal on a civic hatchback(put 30k miles on it, sold it a year later for a $400 profit
) Long story short, sold the civic about 2 months ago and bout an s2k. and all i can say is WOW. They are probably about the same off the line(not talking about cobra again, normal GT 5 spd), plus the handling is SOOOOOOO much better, and more comfortable to drive and ride in, IMO. And then this other dumb@$$ tried to tell me his highly modded camaro SS(400 HP, 420 torque) gets better milage and handles better. HAHA i just laughed in his face. Opinions?

yes they are very different creatures indeed and the cobra is my first love. i'm definitely a straight line raw power type of guy but it is indeed an effort to drive 700hp daily. it requires alot of respect full attention and the clutch is extremely heavy. in the s2000 i just zip around town and don't think twice. very fun and easy to drive.
