Default 03 accord coupe as fast as an S2000 ?

I read an article in the Car and Driver magazines and they have an 03 accord EX coupe manual testing and they said that the accord coupe could do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and I check back at one of their magazines and they said the S2000 did 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. This is really confused to me, cause the S2K is about 300 lbs. lighter and it's a RWD, so is the accord getting fasters ?

That's what I thought too, but I also did not expecting the Accord to be that quick also.

0-60 and 1/4 mile time for the s2000 is very sensitive to launching techniques. that is why there has been variations amongst different mags as well as on different occasions within the same mag where the 0-60 times has ranged from 5.2 sec to 6.3 sec +/-...

remember the e36 m3 had an inline-6 that also produced 240hp and weighed just a tad bit less than the accord and was able to do 0-60 in mid to low 5 secs. given the m3 had the advantage of rwd and wider stickier rubber, a 5.9 for an accord coupe sounds more or less about right.

you need to keep in mind that peak power alone does not determine how fast a car can accelerate. reality is that the engine spins within a certain range of rpms as you shift (at redline) from gear to gear. thus you need to take into account the area underneath the rpm vs. hp curve, the gear ratios, vehicle weight, as well as other factors in order to get a better indication of how a vehicle can potentially perform in straight line acceleration. so in this case, although both the s2000 and accord coupe have peak hp of 240, the accord coupe's useful power range has a power curve that is more flat than that of the s2000, which is more inclined as the rpm rises. thus, despite the weight disadvantage of the accord, its "beefier" power curve to some extent offsets the excess weight which allows it to be competitive with the s2000 in a straight line.

i get to drive all types of hondas at my job and the AV6 6-spd definately hauls ass. it feels a lot faster than the s2k since it has a sh*tload of torque, BUT the s2k is still faster after testing both. the lack of torque on the s2k makes you feel like you're not going that fast, but if you look at the speedometer, it rises much faster than the AV6.
