Default 04 s2000 as a main driver questions

I am considering buying a 04 s2000. I live in Ct and it will be my main driver. I would like to know if this car will be a problem in the rain. I plan on getting snow tires for the winter season. I know that the car wont drive as well in the rain, but as long as i drive normally will there be any problems with controling it on the road.

thanks
-dave

As long as you're a safe driver, you should have no problem driving the S2000 in rain.

I've never had a problem in the rain. I live in Pa and this will be my first winter with my S. I do not plan on driving it with any chance of snow!

drive slow in the rain, and don't take hard turns. you should be fine. if you hit standing water, watch out and keep both hands on the wheel.

If I'm not mistaken, the S2K's wet-weather problems are mostly attributed to the '00-'03 models' OEM S-02 summer tires. The tires on the '04 appear to have substantial rain channels. But I guess we'll have to wait to hear from owners how they handle in the wet.

Granted, a powerful RWD car lacking traction control is never the ideal vehicle to drive in inclement weather. Then again, one can deal with it. Look where I live

basscase you are correct. the new 04 come with "all season" tires as appossed to the SO2(=summer only) tires. they should perform better in the rain, but i wouldnt push it when it comes to snow .

whites2k, the s2000 is a sports car and almost every sports car out there behaves the same. they have high performance tires that dont perform well in the rain, this is not your average accord or civic.

The snow has never bothered me no matter what I'm driving. The salt and sand, however, scare me to death.

I'd just be careful on I-95. Rain or no rain.
