04 S2000 vs 07 S2000
Ok Hi everybody i just bought a 2007 s2000 and i put a cold air intake,70mm berks test pipe and a none name brand carbon fiber cannister from like ebay because i really did not have alot of money to buy one and 2.5 inch none mandrel bend piping from the cannister back to the test pipe and theres a resonator between the cannister and the test pipe because it was too loud,Ok heres my question my bubby has an 04 S2000 and all he has is aem cold air intake and everything else is stock and everytime we race, were always even, its just that mine is louder than his,i dont get it,shouldnt i be beating him by at least by a car or two,or is it maybe what im putting on my car thats whats making it slower,i read that his year weighs less than mine,i went to go weigh my car at one of those city dump places and with no spare tire or tools and a full tank of gas it weighed 2960 with me in it i weigh about 150 pounds, but my buddy told me that his car weighs like 2700 pounds and when we raced he had a quarter tank of gas and i had a full one,was it because he is lighter,i read that my year puts out
237 HP SAE @ 7,800 rpm; 162 ft lb , 220 Nm @ 6,800 rpm and his year puts out 240 HP SAE @ 7,800 rpm; 162 ft lb , 220 Nm @ 6,500 rpm
is it because he has 3 more HP than me and so when i did the mods it just evened us up,i dont know,im just guessing here, does anybody have an explantion for this and if so please let me know,i keep thinking theres something wrong with my s2000

if you think bolting on a bunch of aftermarket parts is going to make your car much faster than a stock setup, save your money. Honda engineers spent a lot of time piecing these parts together to get the kind of output the car has. Putting in hap hazard parts could make the car slower at worst, probably not much faster at best. Chances are your friend could have kept up with you even if he had a stock intake. It takes a lot of money to make a difference on these cars and it takes quality dyno proven tuned parts as well. The intake, header, catalytic converter, and exhaust systems on these cars flow very well in NA form.
The three hp difference in advertised specs is just a recalibration of the power output , there is no difference in output between those years despite the different advertised rates.
In order to gain a length or two over your buddies car is going to take some decent coin, buying some expensive parts.

@ seanserino's answer, thats what i was thinking too about the drive by wire and that traction control thing, because the first two we raced he took me out by two cars and the third time we ran i took that traction control thing off and we were even LOL
@ JFUSION ,your right im just going to have buy really expensive parts to get some decent HP out of my N/A but i really didnt want to do that beacuse im saving up to go turbo by next year.hopefully LOL.
