Default 04 S2K - VTEC question

I bought my 04 S2K about 3 months ago and I really enjoy driving my S2K. I only drive my S2K 2 or 3 times a week (~ 150 miles) and drive my 91 Accord most of the time. The distance between my home to work is about 30 miles.

My S2K has 2.2K miles on it now. I can really feel VTEC engages at 62000RPM (after 3 temp bars). However, if I drive her more than 40 min, I can't feel VTEC enganes above 62000RPM.
I've tried it in 1st and 2nd gear.

Has anyone noticed this too?

Well, to start... even though it would be awesome to have an engine spin up to 62000RPM, it just hasn't happened yet... There's room for hope though

The MY04 VTEC engage is less pronouced than prior years partially because of the increased low end torque. I VTEC 4+ times daily and I feel it. Plus I can also hear it when it switches over...

First off, you should NEVER try to vtec the car on 3 bars of temp, running temp is 7 bars.

Secondly the vtec engagement point is 6k not 6200

My issue is how come I can't feel VTEC kicks above 6200RPM after driving my S2K for more than 40 min?
I can really FEEL VTEC kicks ( and power) above 6200RPM when driving my S2K less than 20 min.

strange question - shouldn't matter how long you drive the car vtec should feel the same as long as you have 7 bars (pre 04s only needed three)

when you engage Vtec are you at wide open throttle? (foot pressed to the floor?)

If like Bass said you are at full throttle when you hit 6k and you don't feel the rush (and you are at 7 bars of heat) there is something wrong with your car.

dynos dont show vtec engagement, yes they do show a change in the power curve but its not the same thing. vtec is set to start at a certain rpm cold or not it does not change. On another note after driving the car for a while the car does feel smoother throughout the range.

Yes, I always at full throttle when I engage VTEC. Do you think it's related to the weather temperture (it was 90 ~ 100 F) with hot engine? Cold Air vs Hot Air? . I always feel VTEC kicks in the morning (outside temp ~ 60F) with the engine running less than 20 min.

My intern (drives RSX-S) told me that he felt the samething on his car after drivning it for a long distance. His car's VTEC is more smooth, so he can't really feel it compared to drving it after 10 min in the morning.
