Default 06 dashboard message: "15% oil life remaining"

What does this mean? I had it serviced by Honda at 3,750 miles, including an oil change. It's now at 4,400 miles. Does something need to be reset? Thanks.

"Slows2k" had a really good explanation for this. I think it's the fancy version of the "MAINT. R'QUIRED" light and must be reset manually when oil changes are done. I believe it calculates your oil life based on the time, mileage and the sort of driving you do (rpms sustained).

Yes it's the new, improved maintenace req'd light; all new Hondas have it. Dealer should have reset it when oil change was done; check the owner's manual (d'oh!) to see how to reset it. On my '06 Odyssey, it involves holding a reset button for 10 seconds or so till the oil life % flashes, then releasing it, then holding it down again for a few seconds...

Hey raptor, you can just reset it by holding the button down when the car is turned off for 10 secs, if not do it when it is on.

How come you had it serviced at 3750? Any reason? I am at 3500 and am going to book it in soon

Did you request to have the diff oil changed? Did you ask for a specific oil to be put in the engine? Did you have them change anything else?

Any advise for me as this is my first service on a new car coming up.

Also, how much was it if you dont mind me asking?

Josh.

Most likely because his car is being operated under the "severe" parameters for maintenance scheduling.

3,750 is just oil change. Nothing special.

BTW, problem fixed. Thanks.
