Thumbs up 06+ Seats

Ive been looking into getting an s2k for quite some time now. Ive got a few questions about the seats that I would like to ask and get your opinion on.

1) Ive searched and found that the passenger seat in the 06 & 07's dont recline. Do they not recline at all, or just not alot?

2) Do they feel any better than the previous seats? Comfortable wise.

3) It looks to me that these seats seem a little bigger than the older ones in every aspect. Example - the headrest/whole body of the seat being thicker, or is this just the way I look at them, or is there really a size difference?

4) What are you guys/gals feelings on the air bag sensor on the passenger side seat rail? I kind of like it myself.

1. I have an '06. They don't recline past 25 degrees or so, even if you shove 'em all the way forward as to not hit the rollbars. Probably a safety anti-whiplash "feature".

2. Only sat in an AP1 briefly. Difference is nothing to write home about...both are too big for my frame. I'd ideally want the shoulders tighter on both seats, but that'd make entering and exiting the car pretty difficult.

3. See above.

4. It doesn't matter unless you have small children. My "airbag off" light will only illuminate when I have somewhere between 20-50 lbs or so of stuff in the passenger seat.

1. I have a MY06 and the back reclines and the entire seat slides front to back. Two levels of adjustment.

2. Can't compare to previous years but I went from an 05 Solara SLE to the S and find the S seats to be very comfortable. It's my DD and I commute 65 miles a day.

3. Don't know.

4. I assume you're referring to the auto shut off?

I've owned a 2003 S2000 and now own a 2007 S2000. The seats in the 07' are more comfortable.

To the guy that had a Solara - You must be really enjoying your S2000! Those things are awful (for someone that likes to drive).

Just so you know, the MY06+ passenger seat frame rails are different and wont bolt up directly to an AP1 floorboard.

edit: ignore my post, I thought you had an AP1 and wanted to convert,..

It doesnt matter to me, that it doesnt recline that much. I could care less. When I read up on it, it I didnt find the full answer I was looking for. It read as that the seat didnt recline at all, so thats why I asked.

To everyone else, thanks for the replies. I was stuck between getting an 04-05 or 06+. Since there is no size difference in seats then I will be looking for the 06+ Laguna Blue.

The reason I asked about the seats and didnt just go test drive on is because the closest one is like 100 miles away.

1. it reclines, but not much.
2. pretty much the same, headrest feels better when you lean your head back.
3. they're the same size, but the newer seats are made out of a more durable leather.
4. i like the feature. if you have a child it would really come in handy.

If I am driving without a passenger should the "airbag off" light illuminate? When I have my backpack on the passenger seat the "airbag off" light illuminates, is that working correctly?

^ that's correct. it turns off when there is no or little weight in the seat. if no one is sitting in the seat, what's the point of the air bag? also your backpack is light, therefore it assumes there is not a passenger or you're using a car seat.
