I really really really like the Mugen si, but wouldn't consider trading the AP1 in for it.

I do really like it though.

I got the thing from a dealer trying to sell me on a coup

It seems like you want to go for the civic mugen regardless of our opinions. Of course we're biased as s2k owners. Even though Mugen Civic is a real great car with limited production, it's still a civic afterall. Driving feel isn't comparable to s2k especially one's FWD and one's RWD. However, it's another story if you wanted something like a mix of performance and DD ability.

The only thing that makes that civic special is the removable parts added to it. Every riceboy civic owner will want the parts off your civic. It will be a hell of a target regardless of where it is. It won't take long for the insurance companies to figure that out and set your rates accordingly.

Personally, I don't believe in using the wrong tool for the job. So I am not a fan of taking a design for an economy car and throwing lots of dollars at it to make it a sports car. I can see putting a little money in mods to make the car that is designed close to your needs a little more perfect for you but not enough to totally make over the car.

A civic and a S2000 pull up to a gas station. The drivers start talking while pumping gas. The civic driver says "I bought my civic so I can take it road racing on the weekend". The S2000 driver says " I bought my S2000 so I can get good gas mileage".

I hate the guys that take diesel trucks designed for hauling and towing and try and turn them into drag race cars. Wrong tool for the job.

Just my opinion

very well put....and i have basically concluded that ill keep the car but i have a feeling this si is going to sit on our lot or show room floor for a very long time so my honest to god plan/stragy is to pay off the s2k this year and prolly look more seriously into buying it because i have a hunch its still going to be here...

Over priced junk , sorry, but someone had to say it.. The upgrades on that car probully costed them 2000 dollars.

With that money I would just buy a EVO or a STI..
or a used z06
or a used M3
and so on, so much better cars.

but to each his own I guess

That and tie a pitbull to each wheel, and one to each bumper...and while you're at it...wrap a Burmese Python around the wing. Even then...I still don't think it would be safe.
