Default 1 to 6 shift: is it unhealthy for the car?

I was cruising the other day in a 35 mph zone and i pulled out of a parking lot and accelerated to redline in 1st. I noticed that redline in 1st is about 40mph, which is about what speed I cruise at. When I am just cruising around town, I use 6th gear at 40 mph on flat streets. Would it be bad for the car if I shifted 1 to 6? I havent done it yet and I wanted to check before I tried it in case it was for some reason unhealthy for my S

Not unhealthy, just make sure to let the RPM drop a whole lot so you don't burn your clutch out.

I used to shift from second to sixth and if I didn't wait long enough, the tranny would grind into sixth.(Same noise as the infamous first to second)

If you practice the double clutching technique, then the results will probably be better.

But won't the other four gears feel left out?

I thought double clutching was used to raise revs to downshift. How would I go about double clutching for a 1 to 6 upshift?

my doube clutching from 3rd to 6th is simply letting out the clutch and push it back in again.

and you doesn't really need to blip the thorttle since you doesn't need the rev to go up higher ...

You have to rev match/double clutch otherwise, you will ruin your 6th gear synchros.

Unless the S2000 transmission is unlike any I've ever used, no you won't as long as you don't force the stick in past the synchros.

If the synchros allow you into gear, you won't ruin anything...

Exactly. We're talking cruising around here. As long as you don't force it into 6th and let the syncros do their thing no sweat. I usually shift 4th-6th when entering the freeway and reach cruising speed. A little different but...

I can't see using 6th @ 40 but whatever floats your boat.
