How in the world do I extract those under 6 seconds 0 to 60 figures? Do I have to drop the clutch at 6 to 7k rpms at every stoplight? My friend and I timed the stook from a stop light and it took me 10 secs to get to 60mph.

I didn't do a drop clutch at high revs. I just simply floored the accelerator and released the clutch accordingly. Shifted at 8,500 rpms. We used a stop watch.

Yes, I know such a crude manner of timing a launch is bound to give really inaccurate results, but heck, I was expecting 8 seconds -- worst case scenario.

I guess my friend caused me 1 second and the air-conditioning another 1 second. Has anyone extracted a 6 second run from a normal launch? By normal, I mean revving to 2 to 3k rpm and slowly letting the clutch go as not to bog down the engine. I feel a 6 second normal launch is only possible going downhill.

I really don't want to drop the clutch at insanely high revs just to get those figures and, at the same time, scaring everyone else with screeching tires.

did you start off in 2nd or 3rd gear???? just a normal clutch release then floor it usually comes up with mid 6's (that is the 5-60mph street start that most magazines do)

Did you possibly have a chain attached to your S2000 that was then attached to a church (the movie..the jerk)

It's either the chain that Scot alluded to, or you have a 700 pound passenger...

Are you shifting like grandma? (not anything against grandma's driving, of course)

Seriously, if you are getting these times, something has to be wrong with your car. I would take it in and have them look at it.

Seriously though, what is the concensus for a 2.5k launch, straight line, no bobblehat, no chains, in the S2000 without the church?

I gteched my car at 7.8 without a hard launch and accelerating somewhat hard to redline earlier today. Are you slamming the pedal to the metal????

Seriously guys, DavidM and I myself spent a night with a Gtech trying a number of different start options.

A normal 2.5k launch would get us around the 8.2 secs mark for 0-100kmh (subtract 0.4 secs for the difference between 0-60mph and 0-100kmh and it gives you 7.8ish for 0-60). The slow times were caused by considerable bogging.

By using higher revs (4k and slipping the clutch a little to get into VTEC quickly) we got this down to 7.5 (7.1)ish. Still with a fair amount of bogging though

Our best times on the night were 6.2 (5.8) for 7k clutch drops with no bogging and lots of wheel spin. The times were fairly repeatable but this is not the sort of clutch drop you want to do at every set of lights though!

My best time ever a couple of nights later was 5.85 (5.45) but I suspect this was aided by an ever so slight downhill.

In my experience the figures above are what one can reasonably expect for daily driving. I'd like to see other's experiences (NB. real numbers backed up with Gtech or similar not just stopwatch or what you think the car should be able to do based on your inflated ego) for comparison purposes.

Best gtech 0-60 so far was a 5.69 with a 200lb passenger with top down. Best 1/4 mile (track) was a terrible 14.6 though. I never went a complete 1/4 mile off the track due to high risk (ticket). I'm pretty sure I can do low 14's on the street. I have never tried a time without a passenger yet either.

I'll try to redeem myself tomorrow. I'm going with a itr and igsr.
