10 VIN # on the S
In the past, I saw a thread talking about the 10 locations that can be identified on the S.
I tried seaching but no such luck. Does anyone have any info on these 10 VIN locations or even pictures of the locations? There is an S i'm really interested in and wanted to make do everything i can for a thorough check.
thanks.

4 under the hood: 1 on each fender, 1 underside of hood, 1 on the trailing edge of the front bumper
2 in each door jamb: 1 on the inner edge of the door, one on the opposite edge in the door jamb
2 in the trunk: 1 underside of trunk lid, 1 on the edge of the rear bumper.

hmmm. just worry about the engine and windsheild VIN matching. being a new member here and asking for all the locations of all the VINs is akin to being a new member asking how to get around the immobilizer system.....
i was thinking more along the lines of if someone wanted to forge or fake vin numbers to make a stolen car look not stolen, then they'd need to know where all the VIN numbers were.
but i digress.

there are a lot more vins then that, but they are hidden and I think only certain people know where they are at (insurance agents, dmv, law enforcement, etc...) my S2K was recently inspected dmv enforcement because I replaced the dash and the old vin was still in place. they took several #'s off of the motor and other parts, so i'm guessing the digits also belong to certain cars.
Wisconsin S2k is right though. All you need to check are the most visible ones as stated above and don't worry too much about the hidden ones.

thanks for the informative replies, think what you want, but i mean no harm. I just want do all i can and do. research and hit the checkpoints that i can to purchase a legit car thats all. I figure that's one of the easiest checks you can do to get somekind of history of the car to make an educated purchase. Carfax is very general and many accidents/occurances are not specified in the report.
