Default 100 Octane is the Shiznit!!!

Yesterday I was on Interstate I20 in Alabama right outside of Anniston when I noticed that my tank was nearly on E. I got off at an exit that has a Zaxbys Chicken and went to the Texaco. I was about to get good ol' 93 when I saw this separate gas pump with the number 100 next to it. I was like OMG The price was $3.60 per gallon... but I am getting a fat bonus this Friday so I was like "what the heck". I filled my baby up with that love oil and paid an astonishing $35.00 for 9.5 gallons.

This is the story of my adventures.

When I first got back on the freeway, I didn't notice any change in the car's performace. I was thinking to myself... I just wasted $12.00. But then... something amazing happened. After about 30 minutes of driving it started raining and I pulled over on the shoulder of the freeway to put my top up. When I saw an opening in the traffic, I hit it. No clutch drop, just a nice safe launch. The car took off like a bullet. I have never saw the revs increase like that before. I was at redline so quick that I almost bounced the rev meter. I hit second and chirped the tires. Something that I have never before... even when I tried.

Today I was on the freeway and hit 148 MPH and did it without much effort.

I'm sad to say that I am back in Tennessee and all out of the 100 Octane. My car is normal again

But I do suggest that you guys try it out. The car's engine seems like it get's the rev's up faster, therefore decresing the time to get to VTEC land. Also, the lower RPMs have more boost to them as well.

100 Octane get's a big thumbs up!!!

Too bad I have to drive 230 miles to get some more

And one last thing... I only got 197 miles out of that tank

Sorry to disspoint you, but 100 octane makes less power than the 93.

More octane = more resitance to detonation. Becuase it resists detonation better, it burns slower and makes less power by its self.

Unless your running a Turbo or SC and need the extra detonation protection stick with the lower octane.

I've never EVER seen 100 Octane for sale here - any specifics about where you found this (IE truck stop? big Gas complex?). Just curious really I dunno what the real benefits of 100 would be...

I can chirp my tires in second gear running 93 octane. To get the most power, you should use the lowest octane without detonation or pinging occurring.

Engine management systems typically have a high end and a low end for variables.

The car's computer will retard the timing to prevent detonation if too low an octane gas is used. The possibility exists that it can go the other way as well.

Based on this account, it would seem that at least 1 car can...

If you follow your butt, just about everything makes power.

The s2k will not advance timing past what it tuned for at the factory which is for ~91-92 octance.

I've run 100 before at the track. And there was no measurable difference in my laptimes.

You might want to go back to that gas station and make *sure* that the 100 octane gas was not leaded. Aviation gasoline routinely comes at 100 octanes, but is leaded. Leaded gas will ruin your catalytic converter. If that happens, you should see an engine check light go on.

I've never seen unleaded gas sold at 100 octane in six years of filling up my cars.

no 100 is not leaded. It's sold at most race tracks and a lot of 76 stations in CA.

110 is leaded.
