So I'm riding to work this morning and I pass a new gas station that has the sign:

110 Octane Racing Fuel

And I wonder what it would do? Just curious....

Burn very very hot! Don't do it....
Do you have a track near your house? Some stations near tracks have picked up on the fact that "privateers" sometimes can't get in enough track time.

Closest track is 15 miles...drag strip 30 miles.

I meant to see what that stuff costs! 93 Octane is killing my budget!

Actually, higher octane fuel burns more slowly and cooler. That's why it works so well with high compression engines or engined with forced induction - it minimized preignition and detonation.

Higher than recommended octane (>93 RON) is probably unnecessary for a stock S2000, and will only help to lighten your wallet .

beware!

I don't know in SC, but in CA, 110 race fuel has lead in it.

100 is the stuff w/o lead. and MAN the s2k likes the 100 octane.

there is a place here in Santa Cruz that you get it by the 50G barrel @~$4/gal. But the will deliver to your house. (In SC County). Elsewhere in the bay area, I have no idea, but I am sure there are plenty of places.

I know they sell it up at Sears Point too.

I have run 110 octane in my car on a few occasions. Before I fueled up I checked with the station owner and he assured me that the fuel is lead free. I really noticed a strong surge when v-tec kicked in.

I notice the difference when running higher octane fuel too. I'm running 98 octane and I can feel the difference. Also, in my old MR2 it made a diference and so it does in my father's HSV R8 (where the manufacturer actully supports you running it).
