Is $19000 to little to sell?
I bought my '01 Black/Red S2000 for $26,000 from a dealer in Florida with 32K miles in Dec '03. It now has 52K miles. Please take a look at the specifics below and help me set a price. By the way, I'm selling to make room in the checkbook for my 2006 BMW 330i. Thank you.
Mods-
- 4.77 gears
- yellow box
- $1500 stereo
- new soft top w/ glass window
- hard top (both tops have working defroster)
- crossdrilled/slotted brake rotors / high temp red painted calipers
- front stainless steel grill inserts
- S emblems throughout / matching red leather shifter
Problems/Strengths
- Paint quality is very good (some small rock dings and scratches)
- 4-5 small dents
- I wrecked it once with no chasis damage
- ride quality is great
- runs great
- interior has obvious wear but in very good condition

I think 19k is about right. I see two 2001 S2000 with little more mileage in sales forum less than $17k. If you have to sell fast, $19k is little too high. If you have some time to sell, $19k is about right I think.
with the hardtop, the price is pretty good IMO. The glass window is a BIG plus, so that should raise your price about $600 from what it normally would be.
the gears only mean something to the right buyer. 4.77s will scare off the less-hardcore types.
I think that without the hardtop, $18K might be doable. You could/should sell the hardtop separately for about $1800-2000.

You should part out the hardtop and the diff. This will net you a large chunk of money. You will see almost 2k from the hardtop alone which puts the price of the car at 17k. An easy snag for your car.
Part the car out then put it up for sale in your local papers. The typical lack of S2000's in local papers will drive the price up slightly.

The reason I ask this question is I was looking on autotrader.com and '01's with similar miles are selling posted for $22K with no mods. I would think that maybe they are just crazy but there are tons for about the same price. Any thoughts on those? Thank you for your feedback!
But according to you, you had a very bad accident with this s2000. It has a number of dents. You will be lucky to get 16 grand for everything....
*Car has been hit hard (according to you)
*the body isnt perfect
Two VERY major things that will deter buyers.

yeh a perfect s2k no accidents etc will get a good a price, but an aciddent can drop the price by several thousand....how bad was the damage how much did it cost to fix? that def sounds like a very major weak point which could scare off a lot of buyers. is it on carfax as an accident? If I ever see an accident on a car for carfax that kind of steers me away....
The accident was on the front right quarter. Total cost was 8K but that includes $2500 for airbags and $1000 for headlight. They also replaced the hood, fender, front bumper, and the entire strut/shock assembly. But like I said, the damage was isolated to that area; there was no damage to the frame or any other part of the car. I'm not sure if it's on carfax or not, how would I check?
