Default 1st gear cuts off at 6500

Got a question - I'm new to this so bare with me please. I am owner of an 06 S2K and for some stupid reason I managed to "take off" quickly without warming up my car when I was leaving for lunch around 12:30pm on a warm day. When I did that, my car felt like it was about to shutdown or as if it cut off around 6500. It doesnt do that when I warm up my car so my question is is that normal. I just want to get some sleep tonight and not think that my car is fudged up.

Thanks,
Jmike

Your car just saved you from needing a new engine. Let it warm up!

The car will not go into VTEC if it is not warmed up or if the oil pressure is to low.
Like he said let it warm up.

You ran into the cold rev limiter. Same thing happens at about 8200 rpms on a warm motor. The ECU cuts fuel off until the RPMs drop below the cut off limit. That why it bounces if you don't let up.
