Is a 2000-2002 for me?
Hey everyone. im looking to get a used s2000 for 16-18k. it will be my cruiser car. wont mod it or anything. im 21 years old. expecting a 300 dollar payment.
my questions are. do i need to worry about 60k miles (my civic. which will be project civic is finallly pooping out at 218k. hence why im enthusiastic) ? is this bump steer and rear end coming loose a big concern for a daily driver?
aw yes. and whats a good compression test results? i'd like to require a compression test @ my expense before buying one i fall in love with.
thanks.

Try to stick with a 2002-03 if you are shooting for an ap1. Glass rear window is nice and the fuel map on the ecu was slightly improved.
Search shows 220-240 are good compression numbers. Consider having the valve spring retainers inspected as well...over-rev can lead to cracks.
If this is your first rear wheel drive car you may find the handling very unforgiving. Take extra extra care in the rain. Make sure the car has the correct tires (oem S-02 are 225/50-16 rear; non-oem are 245/45-16 rear). Bumpsteer is unnerving...a bumpsteer kit can let you drive with a bit more confidence. If you live in an area with poor roads, consider a BSK.
