2000 S2000 4 cylinder misfire and random misfire
Hello I’m trying to help my brother fix his s2k that’s been having rough idle and shaking has all 4 misfires and a random misfire Honda code. He’s read the forums and so have all and can’t seem to fix it. So far we have done as followed:
new plugs
new coils
valve adjustment
Valve cover gasket
spark plug seals
map Sensor
haven’t messed with anything fuel related he says it always had a shaking idle but didn’t get misfires till he had to put low grade gas since all premium was gone during hurricane
Maybe camshaft positioning sensor? Or egr valve related? He says the spark plugs get dark or maybe something in the fuel pump like the sock? Or injectors? I don’t want to have him just spend money on stuff that isn’t necessary
TIA,
Cesar

A friend had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a loose connection to the MAP Sensor.
Honda makes a solution for it, a Zip-tie Hood that secures the plug to the sensor better.
Hopefully that's all your car needs too;

Kind of sounds like the timing chain/tensioner (?)
Could a stretched chain and/or failing tensioner cause the timing to be off enough to cause misfiring (?)
< sorry, just guessing at this point >
