Default 2001 vs 2000?

Hello Everyone!

I am looking at buying a S2000 in the next few days. Curious, any differences between the 2000 and 2001, if so, what are they?

2001 has some standard equipment that the 2000 doesn't have

Windscreen
Clock
floor mats
I think that is it.

There were also some TSB's in the 2000 MY, dealing with the seatbelts and the transmission, but mostly not effected in the 2001 MY

I have a 2001 MY, no complaints just

Looking at the reported dyno numbers, the 2001 model may have 5 or 6 more hp.

This is true, it also depends on the dealer I think, because I got the aero screen, floormats incl in the price and I paid msrp. There weren't listed as standard equipment, but just a freebie

It's just your outstanding looks that brought your dealer to his (or her) knees Shell.....hope it wasn't a she.

The previous posts are correct. Aeroscreen, floormats and a "clock" (if you can call it that) were added in MY'01. As noted there are a few Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) on the MY'00. The seat belt may get hung up when the top is down so there is one for this. There was also an issue with the gearbox on some '00's which is known as the 1-2 grind. You can access the TSB's for more detail on this site (try FAQ's).

Here is an interesting tidbit.
When I was looking at a 2000 or 2001, I asked about the rev limiter. The people that I know (that do a lot more autocross and road racing than I do) tell me it is not uncommon to use it. The 2000 model does not have a rev limiter, but the 2001 does. When you have that enjoyable 9K redline that you like to flirt with, it's good to know you will not blow anything! Let's just say I know the 2001 limiter works
The master mechanic at my dealership told me several 2000 owners have new rebuilds

Sorry, I don't know where you heard that but the MY2000 DOES have a rev limiter, Lord knows I've found it many times.

And 2001 has more HP? News to me.
