Default 2002 Oddness w/speed and oil

...Having owned a 2000 model, my 2002 is doing some odddddd things:

1) 1100 miles... ZERO, I mean ZERO oil consumtion. I'de be down 1 quart on the '00
2) 2nd gear is done at 64mph... my '00 was 66mph. Speedo' error worse on the 00????
3) My '02 "feels" more like its has more torque but less peak hp... So, 6-9k..feels "linear" where I "feel" like in my '00 it really kept ramping up. <-- I have absolutely no factual data on this by except for my butt.

...But #1 and #2 do make me go, "Hmmm."

Aaron, it's only got 1100 miles on it. It doesn't really come alive until around 5000 miles or so.

I've read that some of the engines do not burn any oil. Mine burned two quarts in 3750 miles and as soon as I changed the oil, the consumption stopped cold. Just like someone flipped a switch. I have driven 2000 miles on the new oil and it hasn't burned a drop. Figure that one out.

Enjoy your new car,
Bob

#2 sounds like they might have FIXED the speedo error. On the '00 and '01, supposedly, the speed is reported as 4% higher than it actually is. So 66mph would actually be about 64.x mph I think.

I have been watching my oil like a hawk and I am happy to report zero oil consumption as well at 1000 miles.

My 2000 uses no oil between 5k changes. My speedo exactly matches the neighborhood radar warning sign. I think you just might be seeing normal production variances.

Honda speedos are almost always optimistic (except apparently for yours and mine.) This is true on both cars and bikes. I'm convinced they do it on purpose.
