Default 2002 S2K Finally at my hands

I'll be picking up an used 2002 S2K this coming Tuesday. I've been trying extremely hard to find the combo I want (GPW/Tan or Blk/Rd), but none were availale. I did find one near my range but the price was too high for its condition. So I decided to go with the Slv/Blk combo with 47k miles for $xxxxx (superb deal in my opinion).

What I'll be first doing is of course detailing the car inside out (exterior, interior, engine bay, and possibly the hard to reach areas) then replace the tires/rims to the MY2004/2005 ones.

However like all cars, I was wondering if there was any "common" problems I should be aware of or quick fixes that will help the car tremendously. The only mod I'll be looking to will be cosmetic- for everything on the engine will remain stock. The transmission was in excellent condition and didn't notice any mechanical errors during my test drive. The dealer also showed an inspection sheet (they're very reputable) to ensure the vehicle's quality.

I'll definitely miss my semi-luxurious 2004 Acura TSX 6spd and its refinement, but the handling, agility and nimbleness of this roadster will help me forget all the attachment and time I've spent with my Acura.

Anyway- all suggestions, precautions, warnings, and opinions are welcomed so post your thoughts!

TIA,
Jeff, who is debating whether or not a front lip will be necessary

Ignore the previous post.

Sounds like a good deal. Welcome to S2K ownership!

Do a search for Spark Plug Recall - there was a recall on the spark plugs in '03 I believe. With that much mileage, chances are the plugs have already been changed, but it's good to check?

When you detail the car, get some Shin-Etsu grease or equivalent and treat all the rubber seals. Do this at least twice a year, and you shouldn't have any leakage problems in the rain.

Not much else I can think of - these cars seem to be pretty bullettproof when taken care of. Change fluids often (including Diff & transmission), check alignment yearly or so (these cars are more sensitive than most to misalignment), and VTEC it as often as you can!

Welcome!

I think you should at least put an AEM intake on the car. Your car (engine) will sound so much better, you will never (not even for a second) regret it...

I'd whole-heartedly DISAGREE. If he's happy with the stock engine format, there is no reason at all to add an intake, especially an AEM which is more prone to hydrolocking than other intakes.

^^^ The noise it makes at v-tec is well worth it imo. But thats just me....

And get a by-pass valve for the winter if you dont wanna hydro-lock.
