2004 17" wheels and new brakes

2004 17" wheels and new brakes
I heard that to put the bigger brakes in an S2k you had to have bigger wheels (Bigger than 16"). So that being the case could I use the newer 17" wheels (from a 2004 or 2005) instead of the 16" wheels I have now and get the bigger brakes in.
