Default 2004 Front Bumper Conversion: Rust ?

I am doing the 2004 front bumper conversion and I shaved the front bumper support beam. One question, is this part going to rust if I don't paint the area I shaved?

If it was painted previously chances are it will rust if you don't repaint it... but don't take this as a certainty. Really depends on what kind of metal it is, and how much moisture is getting at the metal.

Hey, I say paint it. You'll never see the part, and what's the harm in a little preventive maintenance?

Definitely paint it. I shaved off the edges in the evening, and when I went to install the bumper the following morning, I had already noticed some very light rusting.

Needless to say I sanded all over again, and gave it a couple of healthy coats of paint.
