2004 S2000 Autocross ideas
I've been thinking about how I want to set up my car for the up coming season here in Nebraska and I just had an idea I wanted to toss out.
I can't really afford to purchase race tires at the moment so I thought I'd go to my roots and look at the falken Azeni.
First question, how does the Azeni compare to the RE 050? I'm not sure anyone can answere that question yet.
Second, the tire size for the rear is a little different, 3.9% larger to be exact. I plugged in the gear ratios and had to fool around with the final drive to make the gear and mph match up but it looks like with the larger rear tires I could do 59-60 in 2nd
, which is where I'll probably spend most of my time. Could be good could be bad.
Also the width looks right on for the stock wheels too, although the front looks to be a tad bit wider relative to the rear so I might have to get a front sway bar to help out.

No real opinion, but liked you, I'm also looking at the options. We'd like to run our 2004 S2000 in our local street tire class, at least for now, and I've been looking at what's available. I'm going to run the car as-is this weekend first. Our club doesn't recognize the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup as a true race tire, so that may be an another option.
Why not just run the stock tires with a good alignment? The difference in alignment is probably greater than the difference in tires. Read through the autocross setup thread at the top of the Racing and Competition forum.
Even if you get the Azenises you still aren't going to be competitive in stock class. Plus, a set of Kumho Victoracers aren't going to be significantly more expensive than a set of Azenises. So I would say pass on the Azenis, save your money, and run stock tiresd until you can afford race rubber.
(BTW the singular of Azenis is not Azeni)
