2004 tires
crx7- one of the common complaints is that you get no warning before the tires let go... and when they do, its not a nice fishtail, but a powerslide!
i love the stick and am now used to them, but had some difficulty in the beginning cause they gave me too much confidence in the cars abilty to stick.

Don't pay attention to the treadwear number. I had a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE730s on my car a while back. They wore out just as fast as the Bridgestone Potenza S02 OEM tires that the car came with. The RE730s had a treadwear of 300 vs the S02s. As you might have guessed, I went back to S02s.
IMO, double the treadwear should have added *some* extra mileage.

Not too many people complain about the S02-s wearing too fast. Average from what I've seen is 12k-15K for the rears and 25K-30K for the fronts. This is comparable to what I've seen with the Pirellis on Porsche Boxsters.
If the S2000 is your first true sportscar, and we can't count our old lowered civics guys, then it comes as a bit of a shock when your tires wear out in 12K miles when we were so used to getting 40K+ miles out of our OE tires from past vehicles.
Now there is an exception to every rule.
If your tires are wearing before 10K miles, your are doing an above average amount of stop and go driving, you don't monitor your air pressure, or you really like to have fun with your S.
Now as for the new RE-050's, hopefully they're not as bad as the Bridgestone RE-92 that came on my 98 Prelude. They should be compromise of performance, comfort, and all season driveabilty. Too bad we can't have it all. S02's with improved wet traction and 50,000 mile mileage warranty.
Oh well.
I guess we'll all have to wait until the verdict is in with the new RE-050's.

wanabe- Not from what I've seen so far. It really depends on what you're doing. If you lift throttle on a turn the back end will come out quick, it's a little scary (passenger thought I was headed off track for a second, and would have been holding the oh shit handle if there was one), but definitely controllable. Yes I pushed the car into a couple powerslides, but they were controllable. I only did this when I messed up being too fast on the throttle or steering inputs. As long as I was progressive with my inputs so were the tires.
And as for breakaway tires, these are NOT breakaway tires. My old BFG R1-A slicks broke away FAST. Even my Falken Azenis broke away faster than the S02's. No it's not a very progressive tire, but what do you expect with the high level of grip.
BTW, I have never explored the limits of these tires on the street and never will, so maybe for a street tire they're a bit much, but for light track use/ weekend tire they are perfect.

Oh, BTW I've got 18k on my rear tires and I'm sure I'll get at least 2-3k more. The fronts looked new before I hit the track Saturday. I do get the rear end out sometimes on the street, but it's usually at full throttle on a long sweeping turn, just a little fishtail which comes back in easy.
Thanks. It's looks the best in person. Check out my post. This will cost you about $10.

so what did you do it with though? Door edge guards? I tried this, but the ones i bought did not fit (the stock grille is too fat).
What kind did you use, if that was it?
