Default 2005 Burning Oil

I just checked my oil and I lost 2 X's of oil. Should I be worried?

I did my oil change at the end of May (1,600 miles). Do your guy's s2000's burn that much oil?

its very uncommon for ap2s to burn them but ap1s definitely do. next time, try using a different oil. i know that mobil 1 is known to burn oil.

I've been using Castrol (non-synthetic) 10W-30, maybe this is a good time to switch over to synthetic?

My AP2 burns very little oil.

My AP1 drank it like a rotary.

Mine is an '05 and it burns about 1 quart per 5000 miles. Sounds like yours is right in line with mine.

I'm using Mobil-1 EP syn..... I couldn't find Castrol Edge that I've been hearing about. Once I do I'm going to give it a try.

My AP2 doesn't burn any oil that I have been able to detect. I use Mobil 1.

Has anyone ever tested to see if their car burns more oil when engine braking? It seems the vacuum created in the cylinder during deceleration would suck some oil past the rings. More so than normal driving. Maybe the next time you do an oil change try not to use the engine to slow the car down. Then see if it burns less oil.

I've noticed some oil burning in my 06. Possibly .25 of a quart every 5-6k miles. It could more than that if I'm constantly doing spirited drives(possibly getting sucked through the PCV during hard corners).

Hmmm, that's actually really interesting! Now that I think of it, I did notice more oil being consumed(not much), when I started engine braking. I always thought it was the Mobil 1 contributing to it, but I'll definitely try to change my driving habits and see what happens.
