Default 2005 Damaged S2000 on eBay

I Found a 2005 S2000 on eBay. Here is the item

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMESE%3AIT

It looks like a very easy repair and the seller appears to be very reputable and honest. Does anyone have any thoughts on this deal?? the seller said he can sell it for $19,500.

The good part is it's a clear title as well and will have full factory warrenty.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

something's fishy.

they picked it up from an insurance company? An insurer would NOT total a car with that damage. I figure it looks like about $2000 to fix.

if you like fixer uppers just make sure the frame isn't messed up. not sure how much of that would be covered by warranty anymore though.

Doesn't look like a good deal to me. I think by the time you added up the repair bills (unless you own a repair shop), it would be the price of a pretty new used 04 which would be better than a wrecked 05.

By the looks of the pictures, the hood is bent along with both front fenders and the bumper frame. One headlight is missing and the other one might be cracked. OH, and one front wheel is missing along with the radiator and intake. I think you're looking at way more than $2k after you add it up.

Maybe try to work a deal with them? Figure out how much depreciation you have with a wrecked 05, calculate the repair assuming all the front paneling and headlights have to be replaced and painted and make an offer based on that.

Why is it missing the airbox? Is there frame damage? If so, forget it. You shouldn't have a problem with the resale of the car because it says the title is clear. So if you do manage to fix it, no one would know it was broken. Also, if the price of the car and the price of the repairs are under $30K, I'd say go for it....but just remember you could buy a new peace of mind S2000 for $30K-$32K.

That car was never totalled. It was a stolen vehicle that was recovered after the insurance company paid the owner. That's the only way that the title can still be clear.

you're gonna need alot more than just a bumper and some support stuff. Unless you like to bond-o the hell outta the car, you're gonna need both fenders, there are dents and creases along the edges which cannot be pulled. The metal support around the hood latch area is going to have to be replaced. I'm assuming he does not have the 4th wheel? And if he does, you should assume it's so scratched up b/c the seller didn't post a picture of it.

There's no way that will be under $4,000 worth of damage to the car.
but still, I would only trust it if you can verify everything and actually PUT YOUR HANDS ON the car, i.e., like be in Brooklyn. No telling how bad a stoeln vehicle can be beaten up. If they redlined the hell outta the car then it might have bad oil leak problems down the road.

The Ins company might have paid out on a theft claim then the vehicle was recovered......I'd want to know the whole story.

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing too. It must also be in accident since the whole front is messed up including the front left wheel. I wouldn't buy it unless it is a super great deal.... like almost free
