2005 S2000 - Canada
Hi, my name is Josh and I live in Ontario, Canada. I've saved up some money, and decided that I wanted to trade up from my Corolla to something nice. After a lot of research, the Honda S2000 is definitely high on my list.
However, as I'm sure many Canadians can attest to, we pay way too much for our cars. I'm under the impression that I should be able to pick up a great condition 2006 car for under 20K, but I'm seeing cars on AutoTrader and Kijiji such as this: http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ300643653 and this http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ299815244.
Then I saw this car - http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...dIdZ300770687#, and it immediately got my attention because of the year, price and mileage, but then I saw it was a "rebuilt" title. Is this something I should stay clear of, or can it still work out in my favour?
I also realize that getting a car from the United States can be a great idea, however I'm not ready to go that far. Any advice would be much appreciated, especially from any fellow Ontarians.

I would look up other salvage title s2000 with similar condition and see how much they go for. Salvage title value should be about 50% of the actually value. Also ask the person where the damage was. I would stay away from front end damage, if it was hit in the rear you should be fine. Hope that helps.

If you want a quality s2000 look in our southern ontario section. Look for username "taylor", his car is built with quality. Has all the mods people will be adding to their car anyways.

Rebuilt is ok as long as u plan to keep the car forever, you will have a harder time to sell it.
Also u would want to know full history of where it was rebuilt, whether it was an actual shop or just in some dude's garage.
If legit store rebuilt its decent price if none then push the price lower cause ur taking the risk.
honestly get one from the states u can get one exact same mileage with clean title for same price down there
i recently got an 06 for much cheaper than here in Canada. If u want under 20k in Canada GL finding an ap2 for that price.

Bringing up this post again, looking for more advice on this car: http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Honda/S20.../25_11426969_/
The price seems too good unless something is wrong with it, but nothing is mentioned in the description of the vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

I got an 04 AP2 with 20K miles for $13,500 it's a garage queen in perfect condition... so the deals are out there if you have the cash.. just be patient and you will find a good deal even where you are living

May I ask where you bought the car? I live up in Sudbury, Ontario, so the cars I'm usually seeing are all from Southern Ontario. I don't want something that needs work, and I'm willing to pay more to get something that can be enjoyed immediately. However, I'd prefer not to spend more than 15K after taxes, license, etc. I've taking a look at taylor's car, but I'm just looking for a stock car, and don't have much preference between the AP1 and AP2.
