Hey, I wonder how many people who own NSX's are told this year after year.
Wouldn't be surprised if they "tweaked" the engine to 250-260 hp... the increased hp gain that people are reporting anyway...

2) With the requirements for safety, the regidity of the x-bone frame, and keeping costs down - it'd be nearly impossible to reduce weight much without throwing away significant portions of the cars. (Check out what the track guys have to do to get down to 2400lbs.) (FWIW, I personally would love to own a factory stripped Type R model.)

It's all speculation, but I believe that going it myself would end up costing significantly more than what Honda would offer it for. (Imagine taking an '03 car and modifying it to the '04 specs - it'd cost you a ton of money. Yet Honda offers the '04 for the same price as the '03...)
For example, the only Type R we've gotten here in the States has been the Integra Type R of a few years ago. It cost a little bit more, but you got revised aerodynamics, suspension (springs, shocks and swaybars), upgraded engine with more HP and higher redline, weight reduction, upgraded wheels and tires, and some other stuff I'm probably not remembering. I used to have a '97 Integra GSR, and turning it into a Type R would have been insanely expensive.

isn't the 2004 s2k already tweaked? according to temple of vtec, the 2004 s2k showed significantly bigger numbers. it dynoed at 241 hp at the wheels. meaning its roughly 260 hp at the crank. i'm curious to know why honda did this tho. if the new 2.2l motor is making more (much more) power than the previous models, why not tell the public?
