Default 2005 S2K - 4th Gear Pops Out

Just in case anyone is helped by this - my '05 S2K popped out of gear in 4th on the way home from the dealer. I could not find a bulletin for MY '05, but TSB 01-100 appears when the '04 MY is searched that describes my problem exactly (30-40 mph steady speed, 4th gear pops out into neutral). It turned 475 miles when I got it into the dealer for service. They replaced the 3rd/4th gear sets and the synchronizer. I picked it up last night and all is well now.

My 1st gear has popped out about 4 times since I got the car in November. In fact it just happened this morning. I assume that this is happening because I haven't totally pushed the stick in far enough.

Has anyone else had this problem?

there is a giant thread on the 1st gear popping out somewhere, i don't feel like looking for it. mine used to do it also, but i have since been really careful when engaging 1st gear. it is because the shifter feels like it is fully engaged when it really isn't, like it only goes like 95% of the way, then it pops out as soon as you start to move. it feels like someone rear-ended you doesn't it, if so, those were my symptoms. anyways, nowadays from a stop i put the shifter into 3rd gear first as i am about to get ready then put it into 1st, and my shifter has not popped out since. it has been like more than a year now. sucks you have to do this, but it has become second nature to me now and i don't even think about it. i believe i read it is actually good for the car to do so. find the thread there is lots of info in it.

as for the 4th gear thing, never happened to me ever. sounds like something else.

I thought it was just me. It happened to me last night (3rd time already; only 3k miles on car) while driving in 4th...at about 35mph.

Thanks for sharing this.

So is this something worth asking the dealer to look at if it happens or is it "normal"? Considering you've only got 3 years of warranty, it's something I would think you definitely want to investigate.

this happened to my brother's car when he bought it....but 5th gear pops out. He bought a brand new electron blue prelude and on the way home 5th gear poped out...kind of a loud sound. We thought it was normal....brought it home. The next day we towed it back to the honda dealer and told then we dont want this car. Its been awhile...but i think it was some engine problem.
