When was the last time you made sure to turn on your A/C right before you were going to race someone on the street? How can you get any farther away from real world. Would you Dyno with the A/C on? I wouldn't be suprised if it was a tactic to increase domestic sales.

yes but the engine is still the same.

It's just a "rating" - only a number on paper, means nothing in the real world.
Right, thats what I am saying.

So then how does the '06 have a faster 1/4 mile? Maybe the guys at C&D are just getting better at it. btw, what issue was that in?

Okay, when I said on, I meant attached - sorry for the ambiguity. Not necessarily on and running, but attached with the increased inertia that would be present on your car. Afterall, who disconnects their A/C before a street race?

Its CandD's best guess, normalized, but its not scientific. .02 sec is basically nothing in that can't be explained away in driver reaction, tire temp, air temp, humidity, etc etc... They test the cars with differing environmental conditions, so as long as the numbers are consistently close, its safe to say there is no difference.

PS - Car And Driver hates the "&" - that belongs to Road & Track.

They might have altered the cam timing to beef up the mid range even more, but slightly lowering peak HP.
And you are the first one who got the backstage news

The car always felt a few horsepower short of 240. This explains it.

I hope you're not serious

240hp does not actually get to the wheels
