If someone had some great desire (not me for sure) to make the S2000 a better city car and add some down low torque, at the expense of up high HP, how would they do it???

Just curious. Since i am sure many S2000 owners have never seen the high side of 7k (not me), it may be beneficial to them to sort of reroute the power to the lower RPMs.

Just wasting time.

I think the standard way is to restrict the exhaust and the air intake, thus producing peak power at a lower RPM. However, this wastes the value of VTEC, and the exotic parts we have to allow a 9000 rpm redline.

god i feel pity for those poor people...
you are being deprived...

i think the stook is quite street drivable. it might not have a ton of torque, but it doesn't weigh much either.

OMG! All you need to do is rev higher and shift later and don't worry.

I've been driving my VTEC '93 Prelude that way for years and love it.

The S2000 does feel comparable to the Prelude around town (in 1st through 3rd and in 2000 - 6000 rpm) and it drives wonderfully!

The only real way to increase torque significantly is larger displacement or forced induction. This motor actually has a good bit of torque for a 2 liter displacement.

I make it a personal goal to try and get the 2nd gear shift "chirp" each time I drive the car.

What do I mean? Well, shift from 1st to 2nd right when the red bars flash at the right side of the tachometer. BIG FUN!

so there is not a great answer. I guess you could convert it to a diesel? Peak torque at 1100rpm.
