Default 2JZ Swap Info

I've been reading through this a lot, and have the basic idea on what most of the guys running this swap are using, but I was wondering if there is anyone who has a broad range of knowledge on the swap.

Ive been building cars for a while so that isn't the issue, just want to avoid some headache on part choices, and see if maybe someone has some info on the wiring. Definitely doesn't look like 50/50 would be a wise person to talk to from what I've read on here.

Thanks for any help. New to the forum and it has a lot of useful information.

You can say that again!

I hope you don't get flamed due to people remembering their bad experiences with 50/50.

There were a few 2JZ swapped S2000s that ended up running well after a lot of work. The LS1 swap seems to be preferred, so if you're open to it, it may be worth looking into as well. IIRC, LS1 swapped cars ended up with better balance/handling than the 2JZ swapped cars.

There are people on the board who have done both correctly, so hopefully they can chime in and tell you how much of an ordeal it is/was. Good luck!

i'd have thunk people would've been happy with high boost 400 whp cars...

They are, but they want to torque and powerband to match.

Honestly, Ive been into turbo cars for a while and done some pretty nice setups but out here I Have Virtual Works who is a premier Supra builder/racer and could utilize his help on actually setting the car up really well with the 2JZ.

Also we have freeway pulls with cars like Porsche GT2's, Twin Turbo Vipers, Built C6 Z06's, and countless other 750-1200 HP cars. It's a big challenge to come out there and run with them. Racing 7 tenths of a mile on a closed freeway strip with a car of that magnitude requires a hefty power. I don't want to take the F22 and push it to where I am going to require 110-Q16 to run it efficiently at the power Im seeking. Leading Edge Performance is also in town. Garth is the owner of the Worlds Fastest Viper (Built By Underground Racing)(Unless it has been beating recently), and he produces some of the baddest big dollar muscle Ive seen. It just seems more feasible to run a larger motor and get more efficient power a bit easier. Plus having the ability to tinker a bit and pull more power out if necessary without doing extensive modifications to do the same to get power from the F22.

I know boost on the F22 will prove to be amazing, but I do believe at a certain point with the 4 cylinder you will hit a barrier where the same power that the 2JZ would produce would not be nearly as efficient on the street daily with the F22.

I know it's a matter of opinion. I just think for what Im shooting for the 2JZ would be a fun, different type of swap to do. Honda has always been my root, had a few turbo and NA setups that were respectable, and my older brothers F22 is boosted running a little over 370 to the wheels. He track races it and Im in love with the power.

Thanks for any info. I might stick with the F22 and produce as much power as I can out of it and see where it goes. Just dont want to double back on a setup being Ill never see what I put into it back in my pocket.

There is no replacement for displacement and you are absolutely right, you will eventually hit an efficiency limit on any 2 liter, 4 cylinder motor.
