Everyone has talked about the three week lag from VIN to delivery, but how reliable is this? Has anyone actually received theirs yet? We now have a VIN for a Yellow/Black, but they say December delivery, which is obviously longer than three weeks. What's the scoop?

Based on my experience on my first S2000, I think you might see your car earlier. My dealer just gave me a 11/10 build date and he expects the car by Dec.

That kinda depends on where it is. If it is still in Japan after having just rolled off the assembly line, then probably 6 weeks 'til you get it. If it is in Portland, then probably 3 weeks. I received my VIN when the car was sitting in Portland waiting to be loaded, took about 3 1/2 weeks from VIN to delivery

Yes, and Richmond is the off-load point for rail shipments to the East Coast, so the further we are from Richmond, the longer the lag time may be. Frankly, I'm thinking I'll be very lucky to see it by Thanksgiving, and I got my VIN last Tuesday.

I agree with VA S2K that it probably does depend where the car was when you got the VIN number. It is worth the wait!

Someone told me you can't get the VIN when it's still overseas...can anyone confirm this?

Ok, here's what my dealer told me. He said once it reaches the shores, it usually takes between 5-10 days for it to arrive. I have a build date of 9/28, and he said I would have no problem getting it before Thanksgiving. Rick, I'm pretty sure you should definitely have yours before the holidays.

Jay Li, I'll take a guess and say you will get your car week after next.

Thanks, guys... let's hope that by having the VIN the car is built and in transit. That would mean 6 weeks at the most. It's going to be a long wait, but at least we have a VIN and a date. With any luck we'll be pleasantly surprised by an early arrival instead of a late one. It's the dealers' first and *only* yellow also!

I think the 3 week delivery time is accurate because dealers have been through this process before and probably have a good idea how long it takes b/w VIN and actual delivery time. Sure it will vary a few days one way or the other but it should be a pretty normal process.
