Default 31K for 04 S2K in SoCal??

Hey, I'm about to take the plunge and was wondering what a good price in SoCal is for a new 04.

I've been quoted 31K including destination. What do ya think? I think invoice with destination is about 30K, so the dealer is making $1,000? Maybe I should cut his profit down to 500 or so?

I've seen some others say they bought the car for less, is the dealer making money somewhere else on this car?

Also, what do ya think about color combinations?

I'll most likely get the Sebring or Silverstone/Black, comments?

Can't wait to start planning that stereo instal

That's a tag expensive. You should able to get it for a few hundred dollars less. I heard that 04 prices go all the way down to 29.8. But then, it'll probably require a PhD. in negotiation. I got mine for 30.5k.

But this IS socal.. we're still getting 60-70 degree weather .. of course he could always get it cheaper, but it's not as bad as other dealers.

I paid $31,795 a few weeks ago in San Diego. I was quoted as high as $36,000, and most dealers would come down to $31,999 but no lower.

S2000's seem to be a bit more expensive in SoCal than elsewhere. The demand for 2-seat convertible sports cars is very high here.

I'd say $31,000 is a good deal.

Not sure if it will help in So-Cal but I paid 30,100 up here in No-Cal(SF). Jan and Feb are the slowest months for car dealers and you can generally get good deals.

Whoops almost forgot. Yes the dealer can sell the car even for below invoice and still make money most dealers have an incentive called 'holdback' from the manufacturer. Google 'holdback' and you'll find out what I'm talking about.

Thanks for all the posts, i think I'll try to get the car for 30 to 30.5K. I confirmed the 03 honda had a dealer holdback of $1,000 (~3%) so it should be the same for the 04.
