Default 350Z - Whats the BIG DEAL!!

The Nissan dealer was on the way to the store the other day, so I stopped in JUST to look at a 350Z. When I got there they had this thing sitting out in front of the entrance to the showroom, blocked off with that velvet rope stuff, because someone had just purchased it. The new owner happened to close the car door just as I was peering over the rope looking at the inside of the car from about 6 feet away.

I asked the salesperson if he could open the door back up. He said he would feel uncomfortable doing so, as the new owners were right there. I chucked a bit and said, "are you serious?" I told him if he wanted, he could go open and close the door on my S a dozen times if he wanted, and it wouldn't bother me.

After this he tried to sell me for a 3rd time, and I had to remind him now for the third time that I JUST bought my S 2 months ago, and am very happy with my CONVERTIBLE, and again reminded him, if he'd like to open my door, he could feel free to walk over and do so.

They are making these Z owners feel like friggin' pampered Kings and Queens, like they just bought the hottest car on earth. They better not go driving around town thinking that way.

What's the BIG DEAL!!!

The car's got heritage American buyers of early import cars can relate to. Don't worry, it'll pass.

With all of the crap Nissan dealers have been forced to sell over the last couple of years, can you blame them to get excited when they finally get a sports car to sell?

Nissan really loves to toot their own horn. Have you seen the marketing campaign?

I wish I was treated like that when I bought my S2000 three years ago.

I was treated like I was supposed to take it up the a$$ and like it, and then tell my salesperson "Thank You for that".

I wish I was treated like a King.

Hey, good for them . I wish the Honda dealers would pamper us a bit too. Instead, we get a warantee that they almost religiously refuse to honor , and service on par with a Yugo dealership . I bought the best car in their lineup and was treated the same as if I bought a base model Civic . I am no fan of the Z, I mean it is a nice car and all, but I would never trade it for my baby, but a little butt kissing after dropping some major coin on a purchase never hurts. Good thing the car itself rewards us everytime we drive it, because Honda definatly isn't making our experience any better.

I've leased a couple BMW 3 series and they treat a car pending delivery with kid gloves. And I appreciate that. When I am signing the final paperwork and someone is gawking at the car (they park them in the showroom), they politely ask them to go look at another one as that one is "awaiting customer delivery". Contrast that to when I picked up my Spa and it was outside and some dad and his kid were hanging all over it. I walked up to the car with my salesperson and the dad said, "well, I can tell you the alarm sure works". DUH!!! Hands off the friggen car Jack!!

All I can tell you is that it's NOT okay for some salesguy to open up my car and let random yahoos check it out. Some people just have different attitudes towards their car than you do.

I think everyone should be treated like that when buying a car. I don't care if it is an S2000, 350Z, or a simple Civic. Car buying is a major investment for most people. Outside of a house and an education, it is probably the biggest single purchase someone will make. The guy earning $40k a year buying, proudly, a Civic deserves the same respect as the higher income person buying an expensive car. I am not saying the services offered should necessarily be the same, but respect should be.

I say kudos to that Nissan dealer.

Some Honda dealers around here did the same thing with the S2000 - velvet "theatre" barriers all around each and every S2000 they had that first (and second) year. Like Destiny said, "It passed".
I also say "good" for that Nissan saleperson. As soon as the deal is done, that car is no longer the dealer's to "show". It's private property.
What if you had your car in for service and a salesman took it out for a demo drive with a complete stranger. WAIT! That did happen and was reported in a thread here. The owner felt violated as would I if it were my car.
On the other hand, we've seen stories here of owners who lend their cars to acquaintences for a whole weekend. I guess it just depends on what your car means to you. Me, I'll never be that casual about any of my cars. To me, it's almost like lending someone my toothbrush.
