3K including install how do I spend IT on an S?
OK guys I know we have seen plenty of "how do you spend XXX cash postings" and hoping everyone can tolerate just one more. Here is my dilemma, I want a faster then stock s2k (have an 02 with aem cai and stainless exhaust and confident these upgrades did nothing) but don't want to pony up and drop 5+K for a SC plus install, then have to upgrade the clutch to handle it, pay for install $$, and any other mods needed to accommodate such an upgrade.
Here it is... I want to drop no more then (or roughly) $3,000.00 on my car and notice a REAL upgrade if that is even possible. That is including labor for any install needed. Am I going to be basically wasting 3K to get minor if any performance (speed) upgrade and better off saving my money or is there a 3K upgrade that people have done, have real experience in that will really make a difference. Also how much of a difference are we talking? 0-60 upgrades would be great but to be honest do not do a lot of fast starts from a stop so actually ones that will help from a role, or even at highway speeds from 60mph would be interesting.
And finally if after reading this your response is simple NOS I would rather not do this just yet...
thanks all
Steve

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are a lot of "S2000 Talk" threads infesting UTH lately?
Save an extra $500.00 buy a used Comptech S/C do the install yourself and a buddy (this is what I did) I track my car and the stock clutch is just fine - I do not do clutch drops and never will. You are so close to having a supercharger I would hold out and watch the for sale forums, It seems to have a new one available more often then ever before

Not much bang for $3000 unless you start slipping into the $5k range. I'd spend it on polishing the handling with nice coilovers, upgrade brakelines and add slotted rotors. Maybe an X brace with front and rear sway bars, hondata gasket, maybe do a port and polish on the intake and exhaust manifolds and/or add ceramic headers.
Of course none of those will make a really noticable difference, but it might give you an edge on the track or drives.

Thanks everyone else.... I do know I am going back to high end tires, the Es100 yoko's are OK but not at all as nice as what comes stock on the S....
anyone have any recomendations on tires...? Thanks
also on SC is comtech the way to go, and anyone have any idea on what the performance numbers really are? opposed to 5.7-5.9 stock 0-60 and 14-14.25 for stock 1/4 mile? What else needs to be done to accomodate the SC besides the SC install itself?
Thanks

Thanks, I have cross drilled and slotted rotors now, how much different does the upgraded brake lines make? can you actually feel the difference?

Comptech or Vortech seems to be the way to go for S/C's around here. I've seen both and really no big complaints from either. I'd do a search for comptech v. vortech and see what comes up. Don't forget tuning costs and extra goodies for those though, like the aftercooler, possibly new radiator (not a must), and new clutch.
Or, you could always go with the turbonator
