3M clear bra on GPW
i believed the newer films have a new adhesive that doesn't turn color anymore.
that was the problem with the clear bra i had on my white IS300.
btw if you are repainting you are supposed to let the paint cure for a while before installing a clear bra.

I've been told that it will not yellow unless you use petroleum-based products to clean it. Use Plexus to clean & condition it. Also you might have better luck with responses posting this in the Wash & Wax Wackos forum.
i've cut + installed 3m clearbra on my iphone and it wasn't very hard. as long as the big bubbles are worked out, the little ones disappear by themselves as the water dries (i assume it has to do with how 3m designed the adhesive)
anyone try diy on their car? i'd imagine the flat spots are easy. i have a feeling that curved areas might be a bitch...

I purchased my 02 in Jan 07 with a clear bra already installed. I believe this bra has been on since the day it was bought just based on the wear of it. Thats at least 7 years of clear bra and I have not noticed a single fading or yellowish look to it at all, but it is on a Suzuka. I think those issues are more related to someone not cleaning the car regularly or maintaining. I think as long as you keep cleaning your car, it should not turn yellow or fade. I do have one problem with it now though, being that it has been on the car for so long, when I peel it, my paint starts to come off with it. So as of now, I am SOL until I can afford to get it repainted and re-bra.

I always want to use films on my cars but they always turns to yellow after some time (we are talking Kuwait hot sunny weather), So I’m using it only on dark colors.
Currently I’m using only a thick headlight film for my S2000, it’s been around 6-7 years and it looks yellow! Also I’m using 3M film on dark green Phaeton which is fine but I have removed a piece of film off the radars and the film looks yellow! That is only 2 years old film!
I really wish to use it on my Silverstone S2k body, blue silver Passat and white Cayenne but I’m sure it will turn to yellow after some time. Here no dealer gives us a life time warranty, 3 years max. and not forgetting that some peel off the paint after removing the yellow film.

I had it on my GPW for a little over 3 years and it shows. It has turned a little yellow. But I will keep it on to save it from rock chips, etc.
I had it installed when I first got the car. I think the problem was that the first summer I kept the car home parked in the driveway "a lot" with a car cover most of the time and drove my DD to work most of the time. We had a crazy hot summer up until late September, and I think that helped cook the adhesive a little more. We had many days of 100+ degrees. The other problem with GPW more than other cars is that dirt will get caught in the edges and make a visible line. Can be cleaned up a little, but not much.
The guy who installed it said there were no guarantees about it turning yellow from staying in the sun (even though I tried to downplay how much it really sat in the hot sun). But I still think it's worth it, especially since I track the car once in a while.
Yes, the guy who installed mine said he did a whole Porsche 911 once. I think the cost was over $3000 for the complete job. And one time I took my car to his shop to clean up the edges a little, he had done an Audi R8 from bumper to bumper.
