I bought my car new. It now has just over 30k miles on it and for the first time I heard a whine today decelarating in 3rd gear only between 4500 to 4000 rpms. Like a high pitch whistling, only in third. I tried slowing from higher RPMs in 1st through 4th and I only get the whine from 3rd gear.

Is this the third gear TSB everyone talks about? If so why would it start at 30K miles? If not what do you guys think it is?

Have you changed your fluids?

 

not the tranny oil. Only differential and engine oil ...of course.

I keep planning on changing the tranny fluid but figure on until I change my clutch ....hopefully within the next couple weeks.

 

You may eliminate it with the tranny fluid change.

Nope. I'm only guessing.

You could always take it to the dealer and have them check it out. You're still under warranty.

 

i have this same exact problem. for me its not only 3rd gear either, sometimes 4th and 2cd would do it too... only on deceleration.
