Default 4.44 vs 4.56

I know there has got to be good thread on this site, but my search isn't working at all for some reason now(not that it has ever worked good!)

Can someone point me to a good thread that will help me decide which one to get...wanting to know what the difference is for the performance(0-60)(1/4), how much? Better for daily driver, weekend racing?...

I'm pretty sure that the 4.56 is better for performance, just how much better is what I really want to know? Are we talking .1 (0-60), .3 (1/4 mile)? More/less?

4.56 will be faster in both 0-60 and 1/4m but it will be higher revving on the freeway. This is pretty self-explanitory.
It depends what you want from the car and how you'll use it.
I drive on the freeway a lot, so I opted for the 4.44. Otherwise I would go with 4.56.

4.57 (4.56) gears are about 500rpm over stock on the freeway. so in other words, if you go with the 4.44 gears you're only saving yourself about 200rpm or so for freeway driving.

IMO, the 4.56 is an ideal gear for this car.

Can someone please answer his question concerning how much quicker the S2K would be in the 1/4 mile with the 4.56 gears. I have heard the time can drop down to around 13.3...

Assuming a stock S is around 13.7-13.9,with 4.56 it should drop to around 13.4-13.6,depending a lot on conditions.

Sure would be nice if I could find some 1/4 slips of an S2K with the 4.56 gears alone.

You will find that there is not many slips posted at all, let alone with gears alone.

Well, maybe I'll be the first one. I am planning on the 4.56 FD as my first mod. Guess we'll see what happens.

BTW...do you work for Rick's?

You can help me.

I'm freaked that I'll mess up my car. (no me personally) but the installer. Is this a fairly common and easy thing to do correctly? How do I go about finding a good shop?

Is it better to get the gears installed by a pro mail to me and do a pumpkin swap? Or is it better to just get the ring and have a local mechanic have a shot at it?

Is the yellowbox hard to do?

Any downside (besides the cost) or benifit (if not going FI) to a re-enforced diff?

Anyone had them done in Frederick-Mount Airy-Gathersburg Maryland area?

thanks
