Default 4.57 Gears and Gas Mileage

What kind of MPG do you get with the gears?

Expect 18-20 MPG instead of 21-25 MPG.

More revs = more fuel.
But...
Driving around in a city could give you a better mpg with 4.57's.

That said...
Do you "worrie" about mpg when you drive top down?

Gains?
Ehhh... just a little....

For prices I guess you have to do a search.
There was a topic about that just the other week.
And you will find lots of posts about gears too.

there arent really any gains from doing this mod from what i understand. what it does is keep the revs higher into the powerband through all the gears. in the gallery section there are a bunch of videos showing a side by side of an s2k with gears vs stock. the 4.57 supposedly will shave off .5 in the quarter mile, but im sure driver skill is also involved in that scenerio.

I'm averaging 23-25 vs. 28-30 stock (YMMV).

Like SpitfireS said, you may get better mileage in city driving as you can use a gear taller without lugging the engine.

I kept my stock ring and pinion but I don't think I'll ever go back. It's just way too much fun.

The 4.57's came before the 4.56's. The 4.56's are also known as the 4.57R's as they were revised for less gear whine while sacrificing a small amount of strength.
