Default 4.57 gears info

I have been researched the 4.57 gears mod and have decided to purchase them once ricks2k gets them back in stock (I heard by the end of this month). I was wondering if I do the differential swap where the 4.57 gears come with the differential and I have to just send my differential back in the mail to them to get my $1000 core deposit back, do I need a skilled mechanic to put the differential with the 4.57 gears back in? Also, what is the gaurentee that the differential with the gears in it isn't messed up already before I even put it in my car? The last of my concerns is how much it would cost to install the differential back into the car and how long would it take?

You never mentioned how you are getting the old diff OUT of your car. Putting the new one back in will be the reverse of taking it out. Whatever it cost to take it out, you can more or less pay the same to have it put back in. Whatever skill you had to take it out will require the same skill to put back in.
As for getting a bad diff, they inspect the diffs carefully before they use it to intall new gears. They'll do the same to your old diff. If there is anything wrong with it, they'll most likely send it back to you and you won't get your core charge back.

a good mechanic with a lift and proper tools can get the diff out in maybe 20 minutes.

Xviper and wisconsin, thanks for always providing intelligent responses. I have a question; I purchase the gears and reinforced diff from Ricks, once its installed, I return my differential? Is this how it works? Also, I was quoted $400.00 just for the install of the gears..does this sound about right?

Thanks..

Erick

I believe that's how it works. Once they get your old diff and deem that it's in acceptable condition, they send you your core charge back.

When you say, "just for the install of the gears", do you mean to open up the pumpkin, take out the old ring and pinion, put in the new ring and pinion and all the associated new parts and do the calibration, it's about a 4 hour job if the mechanic gets the right shim in 1 or 2 tries. If he has problems, you can add a couple more hours to it.
