Default 4.625 final drive does exist - It is not a myth !

Just received the 4.625 final drive. Got the gear set in hand.

For those who tought it doesn't exist, well it does. I worked really hard to source and get the part.






Just wanted to share this info with you.

So what exactly is the benefit of this final drive? I guess higher cruising speeds at lower rpms.

faster acceleration. higher rpms at same speeds, relative to stock final drive.

Is this a factory Honda final gear? I'm assuming not since this is the first some members have heard of it.

No this is a Kia gear set.

Many ratios can be found easily from Kia and Mazda. It fit right in our diff.

But this one is the rarest of the rare.

It is known to be available only in New Zealand, but found it closer

Here is the purpose of having a shorter gear. I'm drag racing with slicks.





My top speed in 5th is at 108 mph compare to 121 with the OEM 4.10.

I am not going to shift 6th gear, so I need to use all the power available in 5th. It helps me get quicker acceleration and get all the benefits of shifting 5th gear.

Nice find, but Kia gears for 650? i thought 4.77's were around 250
